Winter in Vail Valley
As shown in www.FirstLightSports.com
cobalt blue sky and snow-white powder was incredible to form a set of realistic theater. But this was not the theater, and is certainly not the main role in any Gilbert & Sullivan musical. I was on top of a Volkswagen-sized mogul on a black road called diamond Wow altitude of the Rocky Mountains. crooked glasses, dust dispersed Bikes from head to toe in dust and with a ski pole shoe horse, but soon I realized it was a moment of contemplation. I sat on my fall, feeling a bit like James Bond martini (shaken, not stirred) and thought with a smile "which is a good place to be!" I was there, in the heart of the Mountains Ski white jewel of the Rocky Mountains, Mecca powder dogs in the world, Vail. I was in the back of world famous Vail bowls and I was on my butt.
Vail ski resort is a unique full-spectrum slopes. A group of friends and I headed to Milwaukee for the slopes of Vail and dust reputation to escape short ski slopes icy northern Midwest. It was mid February and met with many days of the week were light and access to elevator was quick and easy. Thermometer of our condo, we see that the temperature has fluctuated in the morning around zero in the early hours of the morning. But as we prepare for the adventure of skiing during the day, the sun rose in the Vail Valley that rapid heating. At noon, some days we temperatures seen in the 30's. An easy (if time permits) 2 hour drive from Denver has put us in a condominium Confessions of a mile west of the gondola Lionshead. But we leave the van on the floor every day and we are in a lot of bus stops in the loop west of Vail. The free city bus to the ingenious approach mountain without pain by removing parking mundane trials and tribulations. daily lift ticket is not cheap, but at the end of a day of skiing in Vail seemed worth every penny. A slight reduction in lift ticket are available for skiers of several days.
I realized that my situation is necessary almost immediate attention. My friend, Randy, shouted from the top to see if I lived through my world-class wipeout. I was fine and had only a little bruised the shoulder and my pride. I started to collect the goods from my recent garage sale and get back together. Randy was waiting, but we lost the rest of our group. Both of us skied the rest of the day and covered with what appeared to be 100 miles of trails. We moved to the front of the mountain and found a lot of tracks on the Blue Desert and green. A quick jump out of two Elk Lodge Whisky Jack encountered. No, Jack is not a ski bum drunk, but a meandering blue that day, had been so thoroughly care seemed synthetic surface. We flew down the slope of Jack virtually unchecked for all skiers. After my morning jog I was ready for an ego-ski sculpted We fell slightly, smiled and laughed our way through the mountain. Later that day they moved the area of Vail and half of some of the best skiing slopes of the mountain. Espresso and cappuccino is served by the Northwoods Express lift and summit of the mountain. They are very scattered with pine and fir forcing the towers, which makes every skier in mind that this is a carving of nature. That day was very Mogull Espresso, Cappuccino, while I had prepared several days ago and was earlier the subject of the metamorphosis of hair Mogull lightly. Ski Both were delicious. After a brief stop in the middle of Vail for many lunch and water needs, while we were back in the snow in the afternoon ecstatic.
The day could not have been better sunny skies, perfect snow, and virtually no lift lines. With burning thighs, and the sun began to set, we headed toward the blue and green degree Born Free from Lionshead Village. For après-ski drink and some rejuvenation of the day, the place to be, right at the bottom of the gondola, is Garfinkel. The moose famous cartoon mascot Bar is omnipresent in this benchmark, which adorn all beer mugs and shot glasses in the uniform of the waitresses exceptionally attractive. Garfinkel offers daily entertainment for guests after skiing, and that day was a DJ sound system Karioka. Show that the people of Wisconsin do almost anything for a free t-shirt and a drink, which cylindrical acoustic clunker in black ski boots for a song. Well, Garth Brooks have ears been hurt by my version of "The River", but I have the shirt anyway. To drink at night next day we turned to the Blue Moon Restaurant & Bar in the Eagle's Nest (at the top of the gondola.) The gondola is free to all evening service the Blue Moon and other activities in the Nest Eagle, including ice skating, snowmobiling, and tubing. The Blue Moon Belgian Ale Bar offers the perfect cover to end a fantastic day at Vail.
We spent almost a week in the Vail Valley and found the variety of activities is almost endless. Although skiing and snowboarding is obvious that the first must-do list, there many more. Snowmobiling, snowshoe trekking and dog sledding are just a few. Only a short drive west of Vail is the town of Glenwood Springs. Here the large natural pool with hot mineral water heating history is deemed good for curing all kinds of ailments. My particular completely bruising recovered in these waters. It was found that the people we met on our trip to Colorado, were, without exception, have, friendly and very helpful. Lift operators, waitresses, rescuers, guides, snowmobiles, and all those I met were wonderful. We will be back in the Vail Valley. I can not wait.
